Are you a procrastinator with big written goals? Are you a procrastinator with small written goals? Are you a procrastinator with no written goals? Procrastination is one of the greatest thieves of our dreams, our progress and fulfillment of our life’s purpose. Bad breaks can sometimes cause setbacks. Roadblocks may cause detours as we pursue our goals. Procrastination, on the other hand, kills our dreams before they begin. Why you procrastinate is your job to discover. If it’s fear, is it fear of success or fear of failure? Is it lack of self-confidence? Is it fuzzy goals? Whatever your reason for procrastinating, you are not alone. You are not unique. Most, if not all of us, at one time or another have had reasons to procrastinate. Most of us who overcame this robber of dreams, somehow found a way to force ourselves to overcome our own inertia and charge ahead. For some, the embarrassment of lack of progress, was the key. For others, sheer force of Will got them going. Still others, wrote down all the benefits to be derived from achieving the goal. Some overcame by finding and using a favorite quote that got them going. I will close this muse by sharing the quote that has been my mainstay throughout the years. Socrates, uttered these words centuries ago, and they are still effective today. “If a man would move the world, he must first move himself.“ “If a man would move the world, he must first move himself.”
