Life truly is for the living, no matter where we came from, what we have or don’t have, what we’ve done or have not done, who we are versus who we would like to be. None of that really matters if we are determined to live the life we have been given until they throw dirt in our faces. None of us has the right to give up on life. That kind of thinking goes against the very instinct of every living thing; that instinct is to live and grow. If you have lost that desire; the desire to live and continue growing, you have some work to do. There are people, your children, your grandchildren, your nieces and nephews who look up to you, whether you believe it or not. You are a role model for someone younger than you. Those someone’s may or may not be related to you, but there are people you interact with who observe you. They observe your attitudes. They observe your demeanor and they observe the way you carry yourself. They observe the way you treat other people. Each one of us, like it or not, is somebody’s role model. Looking at your life from that perspective; that of a role model, I hope inspite of whatever Life has dealt you, that you would want to be a good role model for some young person in your life. Adults who give up on life, are teaching the younger ones to give up when things get tough. We’re teaching them that we are the victims of life and there’s nothing we can do about it. If we are honest, there’s something deep down inside each one of us that knows, that is not true. Why not leave a legacy of courage, a legacy of love and strength, a legacy that says no matter what happens to me in life, I am going to keep going and I am going to keep getting better. I am going to win this game called Life! If you are one of those who have been thinking like a quitter up to this point, I emplore you to consider the lesson you are teaching, the lesson you are modeling for the younger people in your life. They deserve to have an image of you, after you’re gone, that says you were strong, that you were not a quitter, that you lived your life to the very end. Never forget that the hopes and dreams of young people in our lives are rooted in what they see modeled by the adults in their lives. The choice is truly yours: to be remembered as someone who gave up on life because things did not go their way, or someone who fought the good fight and remained positive inspite of life’s disappointments and challenges. Why not go out a winner! You can and you should!
