Sexual intercourse: Here’s some cold, hard truth for today’s muse. Relationships based on a strong friendship can last a lifetime, while relationships based primarily on sex cannot. A couples time spent under the covers or in the closet or on top of the dining room table pales when compared with the amount of time spent doing other things. How all that other time is spent, will determine the quality and duration of the relationship. Today’s meditation is intended for those who are genuinely interested in developing a meaningful relationship with a life partner. If bed-hopping and promiscuity is your current state of mind, today’s meditation is not meant for you. Time has an interesting way of de-emphasizing the desire for intense sexuality, while increasing the need for psychological connection. Mutual interests, mutual respect and compatible aspirations or outlooks on life, gain increasing importance with time. My point today is, if you are seeking a relationship with substance and a potential future, hop into the person‘s head before you hop into their bed. Let’s face it, you can have satisfactory sex with almost anyone, but the number with whom you can have a meaningful, ongoing personal association, is much smaller. Here then, are a couple of questions you may want to ponder: Am I going to be society’s puppet and follow the amoral activities presented as the good life and wind up leading a life devoid of deep meaning and satisfaction, or will I be the one who decides what type of life is best for me? Without a doubt, these are tough choices. Also, without a doubt your personal fulfillment, mental health, and happiness in the only life you get, depends on your choice. Now you know.
