November 10, 2025  Who's Really Running Your Life?

“Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don’t.” – Steve Maraboli

Listen to, or read this meditation:

Hey friend, let's talk about something real today. Something that might just change the way you see the world around you. Have you ever stopped to ask yourself: Who decides what's important to me?

Think about it for a second. When you pick up your phone in the morning, what's waiting for you? Maybe it's ESPN blowing up your notifications about some basketball player's tweet. Or TMZ telling you which celebrity just broke up with their girlfriend. Before you've even had breakfast, someone else is already telling you what you should care about today.

Now, I'm not saying sports are bad or that it's wrong to enjoy entertainment. But here's the thing: *you've been taught* to care about these things. The media companies, the apps, the endless scroll - they're all in the business of grabbing your attention and telling you, "This matters! Look over here!"

But does it really matter to YOUR life?

When you spend hours following the drama of people you'll never meet, what happens to your own dreams? When you know every detail about your favorite athlete's life but can't remember the last time you worked on your own goals, something's off balance.

The tabloids are masters at this game. They make you curious about who's dating whom, who's cheating, who wore what dress to which party. And suddenly, you're an expert on other people's relationships while your own life is waiting for attention.

Here's the beautiful truth, though: **You get to choose.**

You can spend your whole life being a spectator - watching, commenting, reacting to what everyone else is doing. Or you can step onto the field and become the main character in your own story. You can take charge and decide what actually deserves your energy, your time, and your focus.

What if instead of checking those celebrity gossip sites, you spent that time learning something new? What if instead of following every athlete's move, you made some moves of your own?

This isn't about becoming a hermit or never enjoying entertainment again. It's about being *intentional*. It's about waking up and saying, "Today, I decide what matters to me."

The choice is yours. Your future isn't built by knowing who won last night's game or which stars are feuding. It's built by the small decisions you make every single day about where to put your attention and energy.

So tomorrow morning, when those notifications start buzzing, pause for just a moment. Ask yourself: "Who's deciding what's important to me today - them or me?"

Take back your power, friend. Your life is too precious to live on someone else's terms.

The remote control to your attention? It's in your hands. Use it wisely.

Your Action Step Today

Grab a piece of paper or open your notes app right now. Write down three things that are truly important to YOUR future - not what social media says should matter, but what actually lights you up inside. Maybe it's getting healthier, learning a new skill, building stronger relationships with your family, or starting that side project you keep putting off.

Now here's the game-changer: Pick just ONE of those three things and do something about it in the next 24 hours. It doesn't have to be huge. Spend 15 minutes on it. Take one small step. Make one phone call. Write one paragraph. Do one pushup.

The point isn't perfection - it's direction. You're telling yourself (and the universe) that YOU'RE the one calling the shots now.

Drop a comment below and tell me: What's your ONE thing? Let's cheer each other on as we take back control of what matters most.

Remember, friend - small steps in the right direction still beat standing still every single time. You've got this!
