There are many highways we can take with our lives. There are super highways, there are freeways and boulevards. There are streets. There are drives. There are alleys. There are dirt roads with potholes. Which ones have you chosen to ride on? Why do some people ride on the highways of life while others choose the alleys? The better question might be, what makes the difference between which road we choose to travel on? If you ask me, I would say there's at least one factor guiding each and everyone of us. One factor making the difference between choosing the highway, the super highway, or the alley, with its potholes and dirt. One factor. That factor is ATTITUDE. Why? Our attitude about things, about people, about possibilities, or impossibilities, or conspiracies or life, or, or, or, you fill in the blank. Attitude. How we think about different aspects of life. How we think about marriage, fidelity, sports, church, God, atheism, love, hate. Attitude. Attitude. Our thinking determines pretty much everything about our lives. Attitude. One person sees the situation and decides to avoid it. Another person sees the same situation and decides to weigh in and get involved. Our way of looking at things, regardless of how we came to that particular viewpoint, determines our choices at every point of our lives. Some of us decide to work for what we want. Some decide to steal what we want. No matter which life-road we choose, it is leading us somewhere for better or for worse. Whichever road we are on, there are intersections with streets freeways, super highways, alleys, etc. At any one of those intersections, we could choose to take a different route. What is the determining factor about the choice we will make at the next intersection? Could it be our value system; our way of looking at things? If it is our value system, where did that come from? I seem to have more questions than answers today. I suppose our value system is formed primarily at home. I guess the ideas and interactions we experience with our family presents a strong case for adopting whatever ideas, attitudes and values we are exposed to. Well, thanks to our creator, we have a free will. This means that no matter what road we’re on, no matter what attitudes, habits, values we have had up to this point in our lives, we can choose a different path from this day forward. That’s what I call Good news! I hope you see it that way as well. We can literally change our attitudes today and at the next intersection, switch to the highway that will take us where we really would prefer to go. A change of mind can mean a drastic change in the direction of our lives. If you are on the wrong road, there’s a better path ahead. Signal that you’re going to make a turn, engage your turn and take the next intersection to a better life. You have a God-given free will. Use it today and begin a new life-today!
